Orange Blossom Syrup and Fruits April 24, 2010

This is a delicious, easy and healthy dessert, that can be prepared ahead of time and will be a big hit at a dinner party. Let the flavours marinade for at least an hour in the fridge, the longer the better. To switch up the recipe, you can use other fruits such as mangoes, berries or melons. When I made this for a cooking class, I used both oranges and mangoes, so it’s entirely up to you and what you have on hand!

Orange Blossom infused fruits

6 large oranges cut in wheels
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 Tbsp. dried cranberries or apricots
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp star anise
1 tsp ground cardamon
1/4 cup orange flower water (rose water can also work)
juice of 1/2 lemon

Peel oranges, removing all bitter white parts and the rind. Slice and place in large shallow bowl. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over oranges. Refrigerate at least 1 hours. Serve chilled. Can be topped with dollop of greek yogourt and mint for garnish.
Serves 4-6
